Santiago map

A practical map for your first hours after the Camino

The After Camino map will focus on what pilgrims actually need after arrival: orientation, luggage, laundry, food, rain plans, quiet stops and transport.

What the map will include

This will not be a generic tourist map. It will be organized around the decisions pilgrims need to make during the first 24–48 hours after reaching Santiago.

Map categories

  • Arrival: Cathedral area, Pilgrim Office area and first orientation points.
  • Luggage: places to verify for backpack storage and lockers.
  • Laundry: self-service laundry options and timing notes for short stays.
  • Food: quick meals, vegan/vegetarian-friendly options, cafés and rainy-day stops.
  • Rain: indoor visits, covered streets, comfortable cafés and short-route alternatives.
  • Rest: quiet corners, parks and low-effort viewpoints for tired pilgrims.
  • Transport: train, bus and airport connection planning points.

How it will be useful

The goal is not to mark everything. The goal is to reduce decision fatigue. A pilgrim should be able to open the map and quickly answer: where can I leave my backpack, where can I eat, what can I do if it rains, and where should I go if I only have two hours?

Verification policy

Practical information changes. Before publishing specific businesses or services, each point should be checked for current location, opening hours, pricing and usefulness for pilgrims.

A good post-Camino map should not make Santiago bigger. It should make the first day easier.
